Liverpool vs Manchester City

Competition – English Premier League

Stadium: Anfield

Date: 11th October 2026

Kick-off time – 16:30 GMT

Manchester City arrive at Anfield on Sunday with a perfect record: five league games, five wins, and 14 goals scored across their last five matches in all competitions. Liverpool are unbeaten in the league too, but three draws from five games have left them sixth on nine points, six behind the leaders. The hosts have been hard to break down lately, conceding only twice in their last five outings, while City have kept four clean sheets in their own run. Recent meetings have favoured the visitors, with City winning the last three, including a 4-0 FA Cup win in April. Liverpool’s best result in the sample came on home soil, and a win here would be their first over City since December 2024. For the hosts, this is a chance to show they can live with the league leaders after a run of tight league results. Neither side has lost a league game yet this season, and kick-off is at 16:30 GMT.

Liverpool have won four and drawn one of their last five, conceding just twice in the process. The latest was a 1-0 win away at Bournemouth on 20 September, and five days earlier they beat Tottenham 3-1 at Anfield in the EFL Cup, their highest-scoring game of the run. A 0-0 home draw with Fulham sits just behind those two, the only game in the sample in which they failed to score. The Champions League league phase brought a 2-1 home win over Atlético Madrid on 9 September, and the oldest result is a 2-0 win away at Ipswich. Across the five, Liverpool scored eight and kept three clean sheets, and only Tottenham and Atlético managed to score against them. Three of the five were played at Anfield, where they won two and drew one, and both away games ended in clean-sheet wins.

Manchester City have won all five of their last five, scoring 14 and conceding three. The most recent was a 5-3 home win over Sunderland on 20 September, the only game of the run in which they conceded, and three days earlier they beat Norwich 5-0 at home in the EFL Cup. A 1-0 win away at Manchester Utd came on 13 September, and the Champions League league phase brought a 2-0 win away at FC Porto five days before that. The oldest result in the run is a narrow 1-0 home win over Coventry. City scored in every game and kept four clean sheets; two of the wins came by a single goal, against Manchester Utd and Coventry, while the other three were by two goals or more. Their 13 league goals this season are the second-most in the division behind Brighton.

City have won three of the last five meetings to Liverpool’s two, with no draws, and they have taken the last three. The most recent was a 4-0 City win at home in the FA Cup in April 2026, and two months before that City won 2-1 at Anfield in the league. Liverpool’s two wins in the sample came back to back, 2-0 away at City in February 2025 and 2-0 at home in December 2024. The aggregate across the five is 9-5 to City, and Liverpool have failed to score in two of the last three meetings. Every game in the sample was won by at least two goals except City’s 2-1 win at Anfield.

Manchester City top the table on 15 points, three clear of Arsenal, while Liverpool sit sixth on nine. A City win would take them to 18 points and guarantee they stay top whatever happens elsewhere this weekend.
