Hull City vs Everton Preview

Hull City vs Everton

Competition – English Premier League

Stadium: The MKM Stadium

Date: 11th October 2026

Kick-off time – 14:00 GMT

Only a point separates Everton in seventh and Hull City in eighth ahead of Sunday’s meeting at The MKM Stadium, and with the upper half of the Premier League so tightly packed, the winner could climb a long way. Everton are one of five sides still unbeaten in the league, with two wins and three draws, and they have kept clean sheets in each of their last three matches in all competitions, including the goalless draw at Tottenham. Hull have taken eight points from five games but are without a win in their last three league outings, the most recent a 2-1 defeat away to Newcastle. Goals have been scarce for both: each side has scored six league goals this season, while Everton’s three conceded is the joint-best defensive record in the division alongside Leeds. The sides have not met in the league since March 2017, so recent history offers little guide. Hull’s league record of two wins, two draws and a single defeat means neither side has been easy to beat.

Hull have one win, two draws and two defeats from their last five. The most recent was a 2-1 defeat away to Newcastle on 19 September, and a week earlier they drew 2-2 away at Chelsea, their highest-scoring game of the run. Four days before the Chelsea draw, Hull lost 1-0 away to Sunderland in the EFL Cup. Their only home game in the sample was a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa at The MKM Stadium on 5 September, and the oldest result is a 1-0 win away at Coventry, their only victory of the run. Across the five, Hull scored four and conceded five, with four of the games played away from home. They kept two clean sheets, against Villa and Coventry, and have not conceded more than twice in any of the five. Hull failed to score in two of them, the Sunderland defeat and the Villa draw.

Everton are unbeaten in five, with two wins and three draws, and the last three of those came without conceding. The latest was a 1-0 home win over Ipswich on 19 September, and three days earlier they beat Wolves 1-0 at home in the EFL Cup. A 0-0 draw away at Tottenham sits behind those wins, and the two oldest results are draws as well: 2-2 at home to Manchester Utd and 1-1 away at Bournemouth. That adds up to five goals scored and three conceded, and Everton have not scored more than twice in any of the five. The narrow margins cut both ways, with both wins coming by a single goal. Everton failed to score only in the goalless draw at Tottenham, and three of their four league games in the run ended level.

Everton have the edge in the five meetings in the sample, winning two to Hull’s one, with two draws. The most recent was an FA Cup tie at Hull in January 2022, which Everton won 3-2 after extra time, and before that Everton won 4-0 at home in the league in March 2017. Hull’s only win in the run came 2-0 at home in January 2015, and they scored twice in each of the three meetings played at Hull. The other two games were draws, 2-2 at Hull in December 2016 and 1-1 at Everton in December 2014. The aggregate across the five stands at 10-7 to Everton, and every meeting produced at least two goals.

Everton are seventh on nine points, one ahead of eighth-placed Hull on eight. A Hull win would lift them to 11 points and third as things stand, while an Everton win would take them to 12, level on points with second-placed Arsenal.
