Everton vs Chelsea Preview

Everton vs Chelsea

Competition – English Premier League

Stadium: Hill Dickinson Stadium

Date: 17th October 2026

Kick-off time – 12:30 GMT

Level on 10 points apiece, Everton and Chelsea meet at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday with fifth and sixth places in the Premier League table on the line. Everton are unbeaten in six league games, although four of those have been draws, and they arrive after a 2-2 draw away at Hull on Sunday. Chelsea sit sixth on goal difference after a 5-1 home win over Bournemouth last Saturday, but they have lost two of their six league games, and both defeats came against sides currently above them: Arsenal and Brentford. Only goal difference separates the clubs, with Everton on +3 and Chelsea on +2. A win for either side would move them to 13 points. Kick-off in Liverpool is at 12:30pm UK time.

Everton’s last five read W2 D3, with six goals scored and four conceded, and the Toffees have not lost in any of them. Sunday’s 2-2 draw away at Hull in the Premier League is the latest, and it stopped a two-game winning run. Before that, Ipswich were beaten 1-0 at home on 19 September, and Wolves were beaten by the same scoreline at home in the EFL Cup three days earlier. Further back, the sample shows a goalless draw away at Tottenham on 12 September and a 2-2 home draw with Manchester United on 6 September. All three home games in the run were played at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Everton won two and drew one, and their only two clean sheets were those 1-0 wins. Three of the five were draws, and two of those three finished 2-2.

Chelsea have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five, scoring 14 and conceding 11. The latest was a 5-1 home win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on 10 October, the heaviest margin of the five. Prior to that, Brentford won 3-0 against Chelsea on 18 September, the only game in the run in which they failed to score. Behind that sit a 2-2 home draw with Hull on 12 September, a 6-3 EFL Cup win over Leeds on 9 September, and a 2-1 loss away at Arsenal on 6 September. Chelsea have conceded in every one of the five games, and their two wins were the two highest-scoring results of the run. Both of their league defeats in the sample came by a single goal or more, to Arsenal and Brentford.

Chelsea hold the edge across the five Premier League meetings in the record, with three wins to Everton’s one and a single draw. The most recent was Everton’s 3-0 home win on 21 March 2026 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which came after Chelsea won 2-0 at home on 13 December 2025. The home side has not lost in any of the five: Chelsea won all three of their home games by a combined 9-0, while Everton won one and drew one at home. Everton have scored just three goals in the five meetings, all of them in that March win, and Chelsea have won four of the last five by clean sheet or draw margins where Everton failed to score in four.

Everton are fifth in the Premier League table on 10 points with a goal difference of +3, and Chelsea are sixth on 10 points with +2. A win would take either side to 13 points, level with third-placed Brighton, whose goal difference of +13 would keep them ahead on tiebreak. Their final positions would also depend on other results this weekend.

In the UK, the match is live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate, with HBO Max streaming. Viewers in the USA can watch on USA Network, with fuboTV and UNIVERSO NOW streaming, while in Canada it’s on DAZN Canada and fuboTV Canada. In Ireland, TNT Sports 1 and HBO Max carry the game.
