Racing Santander vs Real Madrid Preview

Racing Santander vs Real Madrid

Competition – La Liga

Stadium: El Sardineros

Date: 1st November 2026

Kick-off time – 15:15 GMT

Real Madrid’s last league visit to El Sardinero came in September 2011, and the clubs have not met at all since February 2012. Sunday’s game ends that long gap, and the visitors arrive in strong form: five straight wins, the latest a 2-1 victory at Barcelona last weekend that inflicted the leaders’ first league defeat of the season. Racing won their most recent game, but they have conceded 26 league goals in ten matches, the most in the division. Kick-off is at 3:15pm GMT.

Racing have one win, a draw and three defeats from their last five, scoring six and conceding 17. The win was the most recent, 2-1 at home to Espanyol on 24 October, which came six days after a 2-0 defeat at Osasuna. Before that, they drew 2-2 at home with Valencia. The two oldest results were heavy away defeats, 5-0 at Celta Vigo and 7-2 at Barcelona in September, and 12 of the 17 goals conceded came in those two games. At home, Racing are unbeaten in the two games in the sample, taking four points. Sunday’s game comes eight days after their last outing.

Real Madrid have won all five games in the sample. Last Sunday’s 2-1 win at Barcelona was the latest, four days after a 4-1 home win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League. Earlier in the run they beat Sevilla 4-1 at home, won 4-3 away at AS Roma in Europe and edged Villarreal 1-0 in the league. That adds up to 15 goals scored and six conceded, with four goals in three of the five games. Real Madrid have not played since last Sunday, giving them a full week to prepare.

These sides have not met since February 2012, but the record from that period strongly favours Real Madrid, with four wins and a draw from the last five meetings. The most recent was a 4-0 Real Madrid win at home in February 2012, and before that the sides drew 0-0 at El Sardinero in September 2011. Racing took just one point from the three home meetings in the sample, with Real Madrid winning 3-1 and 2-0 there in 2011 and 2010. The heaviest result was a 6-1 Real Madrid win in October 2010, and Racing scored only twice across all five meetings.

Real Madrid sit third on 24 points, three behind leaders Barcelona, while Racing are 13th on 11. A Real Madrid win would take them to 27 points, level on points with Barcelona and above Atlético Madrid into second on current standings.

In Spain, the match is live on DAZN Spain, DAZN LaLiga and Movistar+, as well as LaLiga TV Bar HD. UK viewers can watch on Premier Sports 2 or stream through Premier Sports Player, while in the USA it’s on ESPN Deportes, with ESPN+, the ESPN App and fuboTV streaming.
