AC Milan vs Internazionale Preview

Internazionale go into Saturday night’s derby top of Serie A and on a four-game winning run, but they have not beaten AC Milan in any of the last five meetings between the clubs. Milan are the designated hosts at the San Siro, sitting fifth and seven points behind their neighbours, and they come into the game off a 4-2 home defeat to Bologna in midweek. Inter, meanwhile, won at Venezia on the same night to extend their streak. Kick-off is at 7:45pm GMT.

Milan’s last five read three wins and two defeats. Wednesday’s 4-2 home loss to Bologna was the most recent, coming three days after a 2-0 win at Udinese. Before those two, they were beaten 3-0 at Bournemouth in the Europa League, and earlier in the run came a 3-2 home win over Atalanta and a 4-0 victory away at Salzburg in Europe. That makes 11 goals scored and nine conceded, with the two defeats accounting for seven of the goals against. Milan scored at least twice in each of their three wins, while both defeats came by two goals or more.

Inter have won four in a row, scoring 11 and conceding six across the five games in the sample. Wednesday’s 2-0 win at Venezia was the latest, three days after a 2-1 home win over Fiorentina. Earlier in the run they beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in the Champions League and won 3-1 at Bologna, the side that beat Milan on Wednesday. The one defeat is the oldest of the five, a 4-3 home loss to Club Brugge in Europe on 13 October, and four of the six goals they conceded came in that game. Both sides played on Wednesday, so neither has the edge on rest.

Milan have had the better of recent derbies, unbeaten in the last five meetings with three wins and two draws. The most recent was a 1-1 draw in a club friendly in August, and before that Milan won 1-0 as the home side in the league in March. They also won 1-0 as the away side in November 2025 and 3-0 in the Coppa Italia in April 2025, while the earlier Coppa Italia meeting that month finished 1-1. Inter have scored only twice across the five games. Every competitive meeting in the sample was played at the San Siro, the ground both clubs share.

Internazionale lead Serie A on 25 points, level on points with Lazio, with Milan fifth on 18. An Inter win would take them to 28 points, three clear at the top on current standings.
