Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Competition – English Premier League

Stadium: Old Trafford

Date: 10th October 2026

Kick-off time – 17:30 GMT

Tottenham are still waiting for a first league win of the season, and Saturday evening’s trip to Old Trafford is the next chance to end that wait. Spurs sit bottom of the Premier League with two points from five games, and only Coventry City have scored fewer than their two league goals. Manchester United are hardly flying either, without a league win in their last three and sitting 12th on five points, but they are three points clear of the visitors and won the most recent meeting between the sides. Neither team has won any of their three matches in all competitions, so something has to give. Spurs have also conceded at least twice in three of their last five matches. A home win would lift United towards the top half, while a Spurs win would take them out of the bottom three as things stand and give them their first three points of the campaign.

Manchester United have one win, two draws and two defeats from their last five, and that solitary win came in Europe. The latest result was a 1-1 draw away to Fulham on 20 September. Four days earlier they were beaten 3-2 at home by Brighton in the EFL Cup, and before that came a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford, the only game in the run in which they failed to score. The 4-0 home win over Sabah Baku in the Champions League league phase on 10 September is the widest margin in either side’s sample, while the oldest result is a 2-2 draw away at Everton. United scored nine and conceded seven across the five, and they have scored in four of them, but they have kept only one clean sheet. Both defeats came at home, against Manchester City and Brighton.

Tottenham’s last five read no wins, two draws and three defeats, with just three goals scored and eight conceded. The latest was a 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa on 19 September, and four days earlier they lost 3-1 away to Liverpool in the EFL Cup. Two goalless league draws sit behind those defeats, at home to Everton and away to Nottingham Forest, and the oldest result in the sample is a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle at the end of August. Spurs failed to score in three of the five, and both of their league goals this season came in the Villa defeat. On the positive side, those back-to-back 0-0 draws were the only clean sheets of the run. Spurs are now five games without a win in all competitions, and they are yet to win any of their five league matches this season.

Tottenham have the better of the recent meetings, winning three of the last five against one for United, with one draw. The most recent result went United’s way, though, a 2-0 win at Old Trafford in February 2026, and three months before that the sides drew 2-2 at Tottenham, so United scored twice in each of the last two meetings. Spurs won each of the three meetings before the draw, all at home: 1-0 in the Europa League in May 2025, 1-0 in the league in February 2025, and 4-3 in the EFL Cup in December 2024. The aggregate across the five is 8-7 to Spurs, and the February win is the only meeting in the sample at United’s ground.

Manchester United sit 12th on five points, while Tottenham are bottom on two. A Spurs win would take them to five points, out of the bottom three as things stand and level on points with United and Nottingham Forest.
