England vs Spain Preview

Wembley Stadium hosts the pick of the Nations League opening weekend on Saturday as an England side who have won four of their last five meets a Spain team who have won every game in this sample. England’s most recent result was a 4-6 home win over France, ending with their most goals conceded and scored in the run. Spain have the clear edge in recent meetings, winning three of the last five to England’s one, with a single draw completing the sample. The most recent meeting finished 2-1 to Spain at home in July 2024, following a 2-3 home win for Spain in October 2018. England’s only win in the run came 3-2 at home in November 2016, while Wembley Stadium has otherwise been kind to the visitors of late — Spain also won 0-2 away in November 2015, part of a run in which they’ve lost just the once to England across this sample.
