Wednesday evening at Mercedes-Benz Stadium — one of the great fixtures in world football, and now a World Cup semi-final. England and Argentina meet for the first time at this stage since 2005, two nations separated by history, rivalry, and the weight of past encounters. England arrive having beaten Norway after extra time in the quarter-final, a result that confirmed their genuine credentials in this tournament. Argentina come in on the back of a dramatic extra-time win over Switzerland — their seventh win from seven in this competition, unbeaten, relentless, and with Messi at his absolute peak.

England have been impressively consistent throughout the tournament. Their most recent outing was a 2-1 win over Norway after extra time in the semi-final — a tie that pushed them to the limit but ultimately demonstrated their ability to find winning moments under the greatest pressure. Prior to that, a 3-2 win away to Mexico in the Round of 16 — one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament. Before that, a 2-1 home win over D.R. Congo in the Round of 32. Earlier in this run, a 2-0 win away to Panama and a goalless draw at home to Ghana in the group stage. England have goals across the pitch — Kane leads the line with his usual authority, Bellingham provides the match-winning moments, and Rice anchors everything from the base of midfield. Their back four of Konsa, Stones, Guehi, and O’Reilly has been resolute, and Pickford has made the critical saves when required.

Argentina have been a force of nature. Their most recent outing was a 3-1 win over Switzerland after extra time in the semi-final — composed, clinical, and ultimately convincing despite the need for extra time. Prior to that, a 3-2 quarter-final win over Egypt, a 3-2 win over Cape Verde in the Round of 16 after extra time, and wins over Jordan, Austria, and Algeria in the group stage. Seven games, seven wins, twenty-three goals scored. Messi has been the defining player of the entire tournament — his movement, vision, and decisive contributions have come at every critical moment. Mac Allister and Paredes provide structure and energy in midfield, Álvarez stretches defences with his intelligent running, and Molina gives them an additional attacking dimension from right-back. Argentina do not concede cheaply, and they do not waste chances.

The head-to-head record leans slightly towards England across the last five known meetings, with two wins apiece, two draws, and one penalty shootout win for Argentina. Most recently, England beat Argentina 3-2 at home in a friendly in November 2005. In the previous competitive encounter, England beat Argentina 1-0 away in a World Cup group match in June 2002.

In the UK, the match is live on BBC One and available to stream via BBC iPlayer. In Argentina, viewers can watch on Televisión Pública, Telefe Argentina, and TyC Sports Argentina. In the United States, the game is live on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Possible Lineups

England (4-2-3-1) Pickford, Konsa, Stones, Guehi, O’Reilly, Rice, Anderson, Madueke, Bellingham, Gordon, Kane

Argentina (4-3-3) Martínez, Molina, Romero, Martínez, Tagliafico, Paredes, De Paul, Fernández, Mac Allister, Messi, Álvarez

Tuesday evening at AT&T Stadium stages one of the most eagerly anticipated semi-finals in World Cup history — two of European football’s dominant forces, both unbeaten in this tournament, both in the form of their lives, meeting for a place in the final. France have won every game they have played, conceding just twice in seven outings. Spain have matched them — five wins from five since the group stage, with a goal difference that reflects their attacking ruthlessness. Something has to give, and the world will be watching.

France arrive in this semi-final having been the most clinical and relentless team at the tournament. Their most recent outing was a commanding 2-0 home win over Morocco in the quarter-final — a result that ended the Atlas Lions’ remarkable run and confirmed France’s status as the overwhelming favourites for the title. Prior to that, a 1-0 win away to Paraguay in the Round of 16. Before that, a 3-0 home win over Sweden in the Round of 32. Earlier in this run, a 4-1 win away to Norway and a 3-0 home win over Iraq showed their attacking depth and consistency. Mbappé has been the defining figure of this World Cup — his pace, directness, and finishing have made him unplayable at his best, and Olise and Dembélé provide width and creativity around him. Maignan has been largely untroubled behind a back four of Koundé, Upamecano, Saliba, and Digne that has been one of the tournament’s most solid defensive units.

Spain have been equally impressive. Their most recent outing was a 2-1 home win over Belgium in the quarter-final — a game in which they were pushed hard but found the decisive moments. Prior to that, a 1-0 win away to Portugal in the Round of 16, one of the tournament’s great tactical contests. Before that, a 3-0 home win over Austria in the Round of 32, a dominant display. Earlier in this run, a 1-0 win away to Uruguay and a 4-0 home win over Saudi Arabia in the group stage. Rodri controls the tempo with his usual authority, Pedri has been dynamic alongside him, and Lamine Yamal continues to produce moments of brilliance that belie his age. Oyarzabal and Olmo provide the attacking thrust, while Simón has been solid in goal. Spain’s 4-2-3-1 is built on pressing, positional intelligence, and quick transitions — a style that has troubled every side they have faced.

The head-to-head record favours Spain across the last five meetings, with three wins to France’s two and no draws. Most recently, Spain beat France 5-4 at home in a Nations League final in June 2025 — a remarkable game that showed both sides are capable of extraordinary attacking output. In the previous meeting, Spain beat France 2-1 at home in the Euro 2024 semi-final in July 2024.

In France, the match is live on M6 and available to stream via M6+ and myCANAL. In Spain, viewers can watch on TVE La 1, RTVE Play, DAZN Spain, and Movistar+. In the UK, the game is available on BBC Radio 5 Live, and in the United States on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Sunday’s early hours fixture at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium brings together two of the most impressive sides of this World Cup in what is a semi-final place on the line. Argentina, the world champions, have been relentless — six wins from six, not a single dropped point, and a tournament-defining 3-2 quarter-final win over Egypt that reaffirmed their quality under pressure. Switzerland face them having pulled off arguably the upset of the tournament, eliminating Colombia on penalties in the quarter-finals after a goalless draw.

Argentina have been exceptional throughout. Their most recent outing was a 3-2 win over Egypt in the quarter-final — a match in which they were 0:2 down but ultimately showed the winning mentality that defines this squad. Prior to that, a 3-2 win over Cape Verde after extra time in the Round of 16 was another nervy but decisive performance. Before that, wins over Jordan, Austria, and Algeria in the group stage completed a dominant opening to the tournament. Messi remains the heartbeat of everything Argentina do — his ability to change a game with a moment of individual brilliance is unmatched at this level. With Mac Allister and Paredes controlling the midfield, Álvarez stretching defences in behind, and Fernández providing dynamism from deep, Argentina have the balance and quality to beat any side in the world.

Switzerland have had to dig deep to get this far. Their most recent outing was a goalless draw against Colombia followed by a penalty shootout win — a composed, disciplined performance in which their defensive structure held firm against one of the better attacking sides remaining in the tournament. Prior to that, a 2-0 home win over Algeria in the Round of 32 confirmed their knockout stage credentials. Before that, victories over Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina in the group stage and a draw away to Qatar. Switzerland are built on defensive solidity, midfield industry through Xhaka and Freuler, and the attacking threat provided by Embolo, Ndoye, and the sharp movement of Rieder. They have shown throughout this tournament that they are difficult to break down, and they will ask Argentina questions that few other sides have managed to pose.

The head-to-head record strongly favours Argentina, who have won three of the last five meetings with two draws and no wins for Switzerland. Most recently, Argentina beat Switzerland 1-0 after extra time at home in a World Cup Round of 16 fixture in July 2014. In the previous encounter, Switzerland lost 3-1 at home to Argentina in a friendly in February 2012.

In Argentina, the match is live on Televisión Pública, Telefe Argentina, and TyC Sports Argentina. In Switzerland, viewers can watch on SRF zwei, RSI La 2, RTS 2, and Blue Sport. In the UK, the game is available on ITV 1 and ITVX, and in the United States on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Possible Lineups

Argentina (4-3-3) Martínez, Molina, Romero, Martínez, Tagliafico, De Paul, Paredes, Fernández, Mac Allister, Messi, Álvarez

Switzerland (4-3-3) Kobel, Rodríguez, Akanji, Elvedi, Zakaria, Freuler, Xhaka, Jashari, Embolo, Ndoye, Rieder

Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium brings one of the most anticipated quarter-finals of this World Cup — a high-scoring, attacking Norway side against an England team that has shown both brilliance and composure in eliminating Mexico in the Round of 16. Both nations arrive with winning momentum and genuine belief, and the tactical contest between these two sides promises to be absorbing.

Norway have been one of the stories of the tournament. Their most recent outing was a 2-1 win away to Brazil in a quarter-final that will be remembered for some time — a disciplined, direct performance that saw them contain one of the world’s best attacking sides and take their chances when they came. Prior to that, a 2-1 win away to Ivory Coast in the Round of 16 confirmed their knockout stage quality. Before that, they suffered their only defeat of the tournament — a 4-1 home loss to France in the group stage. Earlier in this run, a 3-2 home win over Senegal and a 4-1 win away to Iraq showed their attacking depth. Haaland has been the focal point of everything Norway do going forward — his movement, hold-up play, and finishing make him one of the most difficult centre-forwards to contain in world football. Odegaard dictates the tempo behind him, and Sorloth provides the width and pace to stretch any defensive shape.

England eliminated Mexico 3-2 in a thrilling Round of 16 tie — their most recent outing — in a match that showcased their attacking quality and reminded everyone of their vulnerability when pressed high. Prior to that, they had beaten D.R. Congo 2-1 at home in the Round of 32. Before that, a 2-0 win away to Panama in the group stage. Earlier in this run, a goalless draw at home to Ghana and a 4-2 home win over Croatia. England have goals throughout the squad — Kane leads the line, Bellingham provides the creative spark, and the wide options of Saka and Gordon give them pace and directness. Rice anchors the midfield and remains one of the best holding midfielders at this tournament. The question for England is whether they can contain Haaland and stop Norway on the counter — a challenge that will test their defensive organisation to its limits.

The head-to-head record leans slightly towards England across the last five meetings, with two wins apiece and two draws, plus one Norway win — a 2-0 home victory over England in a World Cup group fixture in June 1993. Most recently, England beat Norway 1-0 at home in a friendly in September 2014. In the previous encounter, England won 1-0 away in Norway in a friendly in May 2012.

In the UK, the match is live on ITV 1 and available to stream via ITVX. In Norway, viewers can watch on TV 2 Direkte and TV 2 Play. In the United States, the game is live on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Possible Lineups

Norway (4-3-3) Nyland, Wolfe, Ajer, Lysaker, Berg, Berge, Nusa, Haaland, Odegaard, Sorloth, Ryerson

England (4-2-3-1) Pickford, O’Reilly, Guehi, Konsa, James, Anderson, Rice, Gordon, Bellingham, Saka, Kane

No injury information was provided for either side ahead of this fixture.

Friday evening at SoFi Stadium delivers one of the most mouth-watering quarter-finals of this World Cup — the reigning European champions against a Belgium side that has found its best form at precisely the right moment. Spain arrive having been the most consistent team in the tournament, while Belgium’s stunning 4-1 dismantling of the United States in the Round of 16 announced them as genuine contenders for the title. This is a meeting of two deeply talented squads at the peak of their powers.

Spain have been exceptional throughout. Their most recent outing was a composed 1-0 win away to Portugal in the Round of 16 — a result that carried enormous psychological weight given the rivalry between the Iberian neighbours, and one that demonstrated Spain’s ability to win in the biggest moments. Prior to that, a 3-0 home win over Austria in the Round of 32. Before that, a 1-0 win away to Uruguay in the group stage — a disciplined, controlled display. Earlier in this run, a 4-0 home win over Saudi Arabia and a goalless draw at home to Cape Verde rounded out a group campaign in which Spain conceded nothing across their five outings. Lamine Yamal has been the tournament’s standout young player, Pedri and Rodri control the midfield with authority, and Olmo and Oyarzabal provide the goals. Spain are built on pressure, positional intelligence, and relentless work rate — a formula that has overwhelmed every opponent they have faced.

Belgium have been building throughout the tournament and arrived in the quarter-final playing their best football. Their most recent outing was a stunning 4-1 win away to the United States in the Round of 16, a performance of genuine quality that saw Trossard orchestrate from deep and Lukébakio cause havoc on the right. Prior to that, a 3-2 win over Senegal after extra time in the Round of 32 — a nervy but ultimately convincing victory. Before that, a 5-1 win away to New Zealand. Earlier in this run, draws with Iran and Egypt in the group stage suggested occasional inconsistency, but the wins that bookend this run show Belgium at full capacity. Courtois has been commanding in goal, Tielemans provides dynamism and control in midfield, and De Ketelaere has developed into one of the most creative players in the tournament.

The head-to-head record heavily favours Spain, who have won all five of the recorded meetings between these sides. Most recently, Spain won 2-0 away in Belgium in a friendly in September 2016. In the previous encounter, Spain beat Belgium 5-0 at home in a World Cup qualifier in September 2009.

In Spain, the match is live on TVE La 1, RTVE Play, DAZN Spain, and Movistar+. In Belgium, viewers can watch on VRT 1, Tipik, and Sporza. In the UK, the game is available on BBC Radio 5 Live, and in the United States on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Possible Lineups

Spain (4-2-3-1) Simón, Porro, Cubarsí, Laporte, Cucurella, Rodri, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Olmo, Baena, Oyarzabal

Belgium (4-2-3-1) Courtois, De Cuyper, Mechele, Raskin, Castagne, Tielemans, Onana, De Ketelaere, Ngoy, Lukébakio, Trossard

No injury information was provided for either side ahead of this fixture.

Thursday night at Gillette Stadium serves up a quarter-final rematch of one of the most memorable World Cup semi-finals in recent memory. France and Morocco met at the same stage in Qatar in 2022, with Les Bleus prevailing 2-0 on that occasion, and both nations arrive in this rematch in the form of their lives. France have been flawless throughout this tournament — six wins from six, seventeen goals scored, two conceded — while Morocco have been arguably the most exciting team to watch, with four wins and a draw across their five outings and a 3-0 demolition of Canada in the Round of 16 that served notice of their ambitions.

France have produced some of the most compelling football of the entire tournament. Their most recent outing was a controlled 1-0 win away to Paraguay in the Round of 16, a mature performance that prioritised solidity and saw them see out the game without conceding. Prior to that, a 3-0 home win over Sweden in the Round of 32. Before that, a 4-1 win away to Norway in the group stage. Earlier in this run, a 3-0 home win over Iraq and a 3-1 home win over Senegal completed a dominant group campaign. Mbappé has been their defining force throughout — his pace, directness, and clinical finishing make him one of the most dangerous players in this tournament. With Olise providing creativity from wide, Dembélé stretching defences on the opposite side, and Rabiot and Koné anchoring the midfield, France have balance, depth, and elite quality in every position.

Morocco have been exceptional. Their most recent outing was a stunning 3-0 win away to Canada in the Round of 16 — their most impressive performance of the tournament and one that announced them as genuine quarter-final contenders in the strongest possible terms. Prior to that, they had beaten the Netherlands on penalties in the Round of 32 after a 1-1 draw, and before that swept through their group with wins over Haiti and Scotland and a creditable draw away to Brazil. The Atlas Lions are difficult to break down — Bono is a commanding presence in goal, Mazraoui and Hakimi provide relentless width, and Ounahi and El Khannouss give them genuine quality in midfield. Brahim Díaz pulls the strings at the top, and Saibari has been one of the players of the tournament.

The head-to-head record favours France, who have won three of the last five meetings, with two draws and no wins for Morocco. Most recently, France beat Morocco 2-0 at home in the World Cup in December 2022. In a previous encounter, France beat Morocco 1-0 at home in a friendly in January 1999.

In France, the match is live on M6 and available to stream via M6+ and myCANAL. In Morocco, viewers can watch on beIN SPORTS CONNECT, Arryadia TNT, Al Aoula, and Tamazight TV. In the UK, the game is available on BBC Radio 5 Live, and in the United States on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Tuesday evening at BC Place brings together two of the most consistent unbeaten sides at this World Cup, in a Round of 16 clash that is genuinely difficult to call. Switzerland have been efficient and hard to beat throughout the group stage, while Colombia have combined defensive solidity with attacking quality to emerge from Group K as the top side. Both teams arrive in excellent form and with strong squads, making this one of the most evenly matched ties of the knockout rounds.

Switzerland topped Group B with seven points, winning three of their five most recent outings. Their most recent outing was a comfortable 2-0 home win over Algeria in the Round of 32, a controlled performance that kept a clean sheet at an important time. Prior to that, they had beaten Canada 2-1 at home in a tight group finale. Before that, a 4-1 home win over Bosnia and Herzegovina was their most impressive display of the tournament. Earlier in this run, a 1-1 draw away to Qatar and a 1-1 home draw with Australia in pre-tournament action showed their discipline. Xhaka remains the fulcrum of the Swiss midfield, organising and controlling the tempo, while Embolo and Vargas provide the attacking threat. Switzerland are a side built on structure and resilience — they are difficult to beat and rarely concede cheaply.

Colombia topped Group K with seven points and have been one of the more impressive sides at this tournament. Their most recent outing was a 1-0 home win over Ghana in the Round of 32 — a narrow but controlled performance that illustrated their ability to keep things tight when needed. Prior to that, a goalless draw at home to Portugal in the group finale was a mature, disciplined display against one of the better sides in the competition. Before that, a 1-0 home win over D.R. Congo. Earlier in this run, a 3-1 win away to Uzbekistan and a 2-0 home win over Jordan completed a dominant group stage. Luis Díaz has been their most dangerous player, and the midfield combination of Lerma and Córdoba gives them a strong platform to build attacks from deep. Rodríguez pulls the strings in the number ten role, and Colombia’s 4-3-3 is capable of pressing high and creating chances at pace.

The head-to-head record favours Colombia across the three known meetings between these sides. Colombia have won two of those encounters, with Switzerland winning the most distant — a 3-2 home win over Colombia in a friendly in February 1991. Most recently, Colombia beat Switzerland 3-1 at home in a friendly in March 2007. In the previous encounter, Switzerland lost 2-0 at home to Colombia in a World Cup group stage fixture in June 1994.

In the UK, the match is live on ITV 1 and available to stream via ITVX. In Colombia, viewers can watch on Caracol TV, RCN Television, and DIRECTV Sports Colombia. In Switzerland, the game is available on SRF zwei, RSI La 2, RTS 2, and Blue Sport. In the United States, it is live on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Tuesday afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium sees the world champions face one of the tournament’s most resilient sides in what looks on paper like a considerable mismatch — but Egypt have already proved at this World Cup that they are capable of grinding out results against more fancied opponents, and Argentina will not take them lightly.

Argentina have been exceptional throughout this tournament, the only side to win every single game they have played. Their most recent outing was a 3-2 win over Cape Verde after extra time in the Round of 32 — a match that proved tighter than expected but ultimately confirmed the Albiceleste’s quality in the decisive moments. Prior to that, they won away to Jordan 3-1 in the group stage. Before that, a 2-0 home win over Austria and before that a 3-0 home win over Algeria completed a dominant group campaign. Earlier in this run, a 3-0 home win over Iceland in a pre-tournament friendly set the tone. Messi remains the heartbeat of this team — his movement, passing range, and ability to find space in tight games is unmatched at this level. With Mac Allister and De Paul providing the engine in midfield and Martínez stretching defences, Argentina have the tools to break down any defensive setup.

Egypt arrived in the Round of 16 via a penalty shootout victory over Australia, having drawn 1-1 after extra time in the Round of 32 — their most recent outing. Prior to that, they drew 1-1 at home to Iran in their final group match. Before that, they won 3-1 away to New Zealand. Earlier in this run, a 1-1 draw away to Belgium — one of the group stage results of the tournament — showed their defensive discipline and ability to hold shape under sustained pressure. Their pre-tournament loss away to Brazil 2-1 was a useful indicator of their ceiling against elite opposition, but Egypt have since proven they can exceed expectations. Salah leads the attack with his usual craft and intelligence, and the defensive structure built around Rabia and Ateya in midfield is designed to frustrate and absorb.

The head-to-head record favours Argentina, who have won both of the known meetings between these sides. Most recently, Argentina won 2-0 away in Egypt in a friendly in March 2008. In the previous encounter, Argentina beat Egypt 6-0 at home in an Olympic Games fixture in 1928.

Egypt will look to remain compact and frustrate Argentina into errors, hoping to exploit any moments on the counter through Salah and Marmoush. For Argentina, patience will be key — if they can open Egypt up early and take the lead, the game should play into their hands. A resilient Egypt may keep it tight, but the quality difference across the pitch ultimately favours the Albiceleste.

In the UK, the match is live on ITV 1 and available to stream via ITVX. In Argentina, viewers can watch on Televisión Pública, Telefe Argentina, and TyC Sports Argentina. In Egypt, the game is available on beIN SPORTS CONNECT and beIN Sports MAX 1 Arabia. In the United States, it is live on FOX Network and fuboTV.

Tuesday’s early hours fixture at Lumen Field pits the host nation against one of Europe’s most experienced international sides in a Round of 16 clash that carries enormous significance for American football. The United States have the crowd, the occasion, and the momentum of a home tournament behind them — but Belgium arrive with a formidable recent head-to-head record and the individual quality to pose problems across every area of the pitch.

The USA topped Group D with six points, winning two of their three group fixtures before a hard-fought 2-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Round of 32 secured their place in the last sixteen. Their most recent outing was that composed home victory, a controlled performance that demonstrated their defensive organisation and ability to hit on the counter through Pulisic and Balogun. Prior to that, a 3-2 defeat away to Turkey in the group stage was their only dropped points in competitive play — a result that exposed their vulnerability when pressed high. Before that, a 2-0 home win over Australia and a 4-1 home win over Paraguay in the group were impressive displays of attacking intent. Earlier in this run, a 2-1 home loss to Germany in a pre-tournament friendly was a useful warning about the level required at this stage. Adams and McKennie provide the engine in central midfield, and with Pulisic operating as the creative fulcrum, the USA have clear threats going forward.

Belgium topped Group G with five points, claiming their knockout stage berth with a dramatic 3-2 win over Senegal after extra time in the Round of 32. Their most recent outing was that energy-sapping victory — a tie that went to the wire and will have tested their squad depth. Prior to that, they had thrashed New Zealand 5-0 away in their final group match, a result that signalled their attacking capabilities when given space. Before that, a goalless draw at home to Iran and a 1-1 home draw with Egypt in the group stage suggested occasional inconsistency in breaking down organised defences. Earlier in this run, a 5-0 home win over Tunisia in pre-tournament action demonstrated their quality on a good day. De Bruyne remains the focal point of everything Belgium do going forward, with Doku’s pace on the wing and Trossard providing quality in the attacking third. Courtois behind them is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The head-to-head record strongly favours Belgium, who have won all five of the recorded meetings between these sides. Most recently, Belgium beat the USA 5-2 away in a friendly in March 2026. In the previous encounter, Belgium beat the USA 2-1 after extra time at home in a World Cup knockout fixture in July 2014.

In the United States, the match is live on FOX Network and fuboTV. In the UK, viewers can watch on BBC One and stream via BBC iPlayer. In Belgium, the game is available on La Une, VRT 1, and Sporza.

Possible Lineups

Monday evening at AT&T Stadium delivers the standout fixture of the Round of 16 — an Iberian derby between two of the most technically gifted nations in world football. Portugal and Spain have both been impressive in reaching this stage, and with the quality spread across both squads, this is a match that could go in any direction. History between these sides leans heavily toward close, hard-fought encounters, and there is every reason to expect the same here.

Portugal finished second in Group K with five points and have been consistently dangerous without always being convincing. Their most recent outing was a 2-1 win at home over Croatia in the Round of 32, a tight contest that required a second-half effort to see off a stubborn opponent. Prior to that, a goalless draw away to Colombia in their final group fixture was a composed if uninspiring performance. Before that, they had been at their most ruthless, thrashing Uzbekistan 5-0 at home. Earlier in this run, a 1-1 home draw with D.R. Congo showed a brief lapse in defensive concentration, and a 2-1 home win over Nigeria in a pre-tournament friendly rounded out a solid if unspectacular build-up. Ronaldo remains the focal point, with Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings behind him and Leão providing width and pace on the left. When Portugal click, they are a joy to watch — the question is whether they can sustain that level for ninety minutes against the best Spain can offer.

Spain topped Group H with seven points and have been arguably the most complete team at this tournament. Their most recent outing was a dominant 3-0 home win over Austria in the Round of 32 — a performance that underlined their technical superiority and tactical flexibility. Prior to that, they beat Uruguay 1-0 away in their final group match, a disciplined, controlled display. Before that, a 4-0 home win over Saudi Arabia was one of the performances of the group stage. Earlier in this run, a goalless draw at home to Cape Verde was their only dropped points of the entire tournament, and a 3-1 win away to Peru in a pre-tournament friendly was the foundation for their momentum. Lamine Yamal has been a revelation on the right, Pedri controls the tempo in midfield, and Olmo provides the link between the lines. Spain’s 4-2-3-1 is built on pressing and positional discipline, and they have been the most consistent team in the competition.

The head-to-head record between these sides across the last five meetings shows three draws, one Spain win and one Portugal win — via a penalty shootout in the Nations League in June 2025. Most recently, Portugal and Spain drew 2-2 after extra time in that Nations League fixture before Portugal prevailed on penalties at home. In the previous meeting, Spain won away in Portugal 1-0 in the Nations League in September 2022.

In Spain, the match is live on TVE La 1 and RTVE Play, with DAZN Spain and Movistar+ also carrying it. In Portugal, viewers can watch on Sport TV Multiscreen and Sport TV5. In the UK, the game is on BBC One and available to stream via BBC iPlayer.
